Foster an Animal

Fostering and opening your home to a pet in need is an essential part of rescue. Every foster home allows us to save another life and start their journey to rehabilitation and a forever home.

What do I need to foster?

All you need is love and a space for foster pets that is separate from other pets in the home! This can be an empty room or even a guest bathroom!

According to the ASPCA statistics, Approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.1 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. We estimate that the number of dogs and cats entering U.S. shelters annually has declined from approximately 7.2 million in 2011. The biggest decline was in dogs (from 3.9 million to 3.1 million).

Tuxedo senior cat

Meet Boots, a senior cat who was on the euthanasia list after her whole world collapsed. She was deemed "aggressive" but with a foster home who gave her love and time, she became the sweetest old lady. Boots's story shows how great of a difference fostering makes.

Of the 355,000 dogs and cats killed in shelters in 2021, about 68% were cats. (Best Friends Animal Society, 2025)
